every summer i take 2 days off for OZZFEST! this will be debs first time going! it was a small group this year but i was happy with that. just me deb d and josh. we went for lunch and then to the pnc bank.
the walk up wasnt too bad this time. we got in with no problem. found a pretty good seat on the lawn. one down fall it was hot as hell.
we decided this year to get there as main stage was coming on. in flames began and they were very good. after that was black label society, mudvaine, darkness falls or something like that.
then IRON MAIDEN came on. oh yeah baby! they were awesome! they did however put down ozzy when they said they would never do reality tv and i thought that was pretty bad form. i mean with out ozzy you wouldnt be playing ozzfest so best to keep your mouth shut.
after maiden came sabbath! they were awesome! when it was time for the oncore ozzy began singing children of the grave and thats when it happened. his voice. it cracked. ok its ok. he just needs water. he gets water. he begins the second part. voice cracks worse. he cant sing! they have to stop. oncore was over. ozzy looks as if he is going to cry. i want to cry. i was devistated.
as we were walking back to the car i couldnt speak. my hero is getting old and may not be able to sing anymore. what would a world with out ozzy be like? for so many years he has made the most amazing songs. when you think evil and fear you think ozzy. and now...now hes a man. with limitations. hes mortal. its horrible to think about.
ozzfest was great this year. no rain. no one got hurt. only one mosh pit started. but my day was completely ruined when my poor ozzy couldnt sing.
